MINAB was dismayed to see unwarranted criticism of Imam Qari Asim, the Chair of MINAB, in the media.
It is deeply worrying that someone who has dedicated his life to bringing communities together, tackling hatred and extremism, is vilified in this way.
Portraying Imam Qari Asim as someone who is opposed to Free Speech only helps to isolate those leaders who step up to challenges facing our country and promote Anti-Muslim Hatred and prejudice, and hatred of minorities.

It is important that proactive work on defining Islamophobia progresses soon, so that communities can be reassured of the government’s commitment in this regard.
MINAB is also grateful for the overwhelming support that has been provided to the Chair, Imam Qari Asim, for his outstanding leadership, in particular we are extremely thankful to the Archbishop of Canterbury for his strong message of support.
